1inch at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting
1inch will host the third edition of its meetup and a party at one of the world’s most significant economic events.
DeFi adoption by institutions is likely to be one of the hottest topics in 2024, as the recent approval by the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Bitcoin ETFs was a major step towards institutional adoption of crypto and DeFi.
Meanwhile, the 1inch Network has long been working on bridging the gap between DeFi and traditional financial institutions. In 2022 and 2023, 1inch successfully ran a meetup called “Institutions and DeFi” at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, a major global event at which top-level executives rub shoulders with prominent politicians and major personalities from civil society, academia and the media.
The 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum, scheduled to be held in Davos, Switzerland on January 15-19, is set to provide a discussion platform of fundamental principles driving trust, including transparency, consistency and accountability.
And 1inch will be back with the third edition of its meetup, “Institutions and DeFi in 2024 – the road ahead,” scheduled to run on January 16 at Pulsa Bar & Lounge (3 Talstrasse 7270 Davos Platz).
The event will kick off at noon with opening remarks by 1inch’s Valeriya Minaeva.
The panel discussion “Institutional adoption of decentralized finance 2024: What we need going forward” will feature Romain Braud (BD Director of Arab Bank), Néstor Palao (Head DLT & Corporate Clients at Sygnum Bank) and Svetlana Sailer (Kraken’s Institutional Relations and Solution Manager for the EMEA region). The discussion will be moderated by Christine Lee, a senior anchor at CoinDesk.
It will be followed by “The future of decentralized finance - 1inch Fusion: A new standard for token swaps,” a keynote address from 1inch co-founder Anton Bukov.
Andrey Belyakov (Opium protocol founder), Katryna Hanush (Partnerships at Wintermute), Alain Kunz (Head of European Sales at GSR) and Michael Lie (Head of Digital Assets Trading at Flow Traders) will be participants in the panel “Liquidity and market making in a DEX or a CEX.” The panel’s moderator will be Aaron Stanley, Editorial Director at Filecoin Foundation and ex-reporter for CoinDesk and Forbes.com.
The panel “Regulating DeFi: How to reach a balance between protecting users and fostering innovation” will gather Michael Kunz (Partner at the Swiss law firm MME), Joseph Cutler (Joseph P. Cutler Partner) and Orest Gavryliak (Legal Lead at the 1inch Network). Prominent investor, keynote speaker and best-selling author Mark Mueller-Eberstein will act as the moderator.
Then, 1inch Developer Portal product owner Alex Neufeld and COO Andri Rabetanety will deliver a keynote address on the Developer Portal and API automation, which will be followed by a fireside chat with Andri and two other 1inch top execs, CFO Chaeho Shin and CBDO Samuel Yim, moderated by prominent journalist and podcaster Dustin Plantholt.
The meetup’s final panel will be named “Is the recent growth of the crypto segment sustainable? What to expect in 2024.” The experts on this panel will include Fredrik Haga (Dune co-founder), Viktor Fischer (Managing Partner at RockawayX) and Brian Gallagher (Co-Founder and Council Member of Partisia Blockchain), while Kristina Lucrezia Cornèr, editor in chief at Cointelegraph, will moderate the discussion.
